The Full Story
Roots
The roots of our practice run deep, making Crowder CPA LLC far more than a tax practice, but a local business seasoned with the finest of integrity and character.

Way Back in the Beginning
In 1965 Ronnie Willson hung his CPA shingle here in San Marcos. As the years passed his reputation and quality clientele were sealed. For decades Ronnie enjoyed deep relationships with legacy clients and the people that passed through his offices. Meanwhile, a close friend and contemporary of his was doing a similar work in his own house of accounts. Larry McSpadden owned and operated an accounting practice, also offering bookkeeping services and enjoyed the same reputation and quality of relationship with his clients. In 2003 these local businessmen decided to merge practices and bring in some young blood to alleviate the intensity of tax seasons and increase their time on the golf course.
Classical Analogy
Sean Crowder was groomed, mentored and built up by Ron and Larry and in turn he shouldered the growing business while bringing in innovative practices and new technologies to their shared offices. Ronnie often teased that he and Larry were like Scrooge and Marley from Dickens’ classic work, A Christmas Carol, while Sean was like the abused and overworked Bob Cratchit. To this day you can find a small statue of the Scrooge and Marley’s House of Accounts sitting on the shelf. Truth be told all three of these men were far more akin to Fezziwig, another of Dickens’ memorable characters from the same classic. All three are known for generosity, kindness, and prowess in their profession.

Present Day
In 2007 Sean purchased both businesses, which then became known as Sean Crowder CPA. Our offices have continued to be mentored and filled with the company of excellent staff and clientele over the years and will continue to do so for years to come. Our outstanding team consists of Donnalynn Barton who joined us in 2012, Blake Hall who joined in 2018 and has gone from intern to CPA, and Brenda Bean who has also been with us since 2018. Up front we have counted our office extremely fortunate to have dazzling personalities greet and assist our clientele, including the legendary Vicki Janek who worked with our offices until 2013 when Nicci Lesak, her rhyme and replacement came to fill her chair for the following 11 years. In 2024 Sean’s son Andrew joined the team and the business name changed to Crowder CPA LLC, leaving room for more than one Crowder to take their seat in the business.
